major project: ashley's paradox
The initial idea of my major project is about psychology, which I would love to add even more psychology into the modern games. Games nowadays are mainly just full of violence and near meaningless stories which would not exactly convey any message out to the players who are playing the game. Below shows the mind map that I have briefly mapped out on what I am interested to work on:
The mind map that I have created is mainly referred to the project that I had started a year ago, The Ashley's Paradox, which is a project based on a CreepyPasta story that I extremely admire, alongside a tiny addition of creativity of my own. I am rather interested in storytelling in so many different ways, being in such a pathway, I am able to convey my message even better through art as well as game-styled storytelling.
As I am interested in Psychology in general, there are a lot of ways that I am able to grasp the idea and place the psychology topic into the way I'd like my story to be told to the world.
Ashley's Paradox is about a group of talented/scholar students who unwillingly had to team up alongside a paranoid/broken Senior Investigator of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD) to solve the mysterious disappearance of Ashley, Kansas. Characters includes:
Harper Siege (Senior Investigator of KCKPD)
Saige Lincoln (Comedy Acting Student of Darwin Academy)
Doyle Carter (Modern Music Student of Darwin Academy)
Kathlin Ward (Fashion Design Student of Darwin Academy)
Edward Dixon (Robotics Student of Darwin Academy)
Quinton Collins (Fine Art Student of Darwin Academy)
Christopher Mason
This project was first started up when I was in high school and we were assigned to work on a personal project on our own with a given specific time of 9 months. I'd say it was the best 9 months of my life, having to be so proud of my own work in the end even though there's so much more to work on in the future. This project is an ongoing project that I am currently on hiatus for as I believe I can learn more in college and university to apply my knowledge into the project itself.
As for my major project, I will be working on a different perspective on the character's point of view. It still applies on all three points which I had made, identity, emotions and disorder. Skylar, the protagonist of the major project sees things differently than others, being able to see the future drives her insane. This character shows the first person view of what Christopher Mason in Ashley's Paradox see. As someone who only sees the negative side of the world may drive them insane separating reality and imagination. Skylar suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder as well as Capgras Delusion. Capgras Delusion is a disorder which allows the specific person to believe that a relative has been replaced by an impostor, in this case, Skylar was convinced that everyone around her is not real. Disorders like these are interesting to be looked into as it is not exactly mentioned in a general wide range of audiences. I believe bringing up disorders would allow a larger amount of audience to be more aware of what is happening in the world. [Story Idea: Dad's Tapes: They Don't Eat]
