major project: environment research

For environment researches, I've researched on a couple of artists and a major game that I fancy their environment art for: Uncharted 4. Uncharted 4 is a rather complex game when it comes to game art designing. I've stumbled across an interview that was done by Gnomon.edu with an Environment artist: Martin Teichmann who works for Naughty Dogs. In the interview, Martin outlined the workflow that Naughty Dog usually follows from early concept sketches through initial block mesh, asset building, level refinement, detailing then lastly, optimization. I've read the interview and find it extremely useful towards the progression route that I am about to progress into.

These artwork shows a series of progress from the initial basic sketches which were to show a simple concept of how the specific building/object would look like.

After that, they'd bring it over to 3D softwares to map out the environment to show a more precise and detailed idea.

After many stages of planning on how they want the location would look like, they end up with a beautiful final piece of artwork.
